For the first time since April, someone in Haliburton County has been hospitalized with COVID-19.

In an update Aug. 5, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported a new case of the virus in the county and a new hospitalization. There are also three new high-risk contacts.

The hospitalization is Haliburton’s second overall. The new case reported is Haliburton’s 14th, only two of which are active. The previous 12 cases have all been resolved according to the health unit.

Across the district, there have now been a total of 215 cases, with none active in Northumberland and 20 active in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
