This year’s Haliburton Home and Cottage Show is all about local people, vendors, and even furry friends.
The annual show will have more than home and cottage appliances and hardware.
It will also feature a doggy day care that will be set up on the property with support from ‘I love your dog – reward-based training’ and ‘Tails and trails doggy day care centre,’ according to Dave Taylor, home show coordinator.
“This year, people don’t have to worry about leaving their well-behaved dogs at home or think about leaving them in hot cars. They can just drop them off at the daycare and go enjoy the event,” he said.
Approximately 130 vendors from Haliburton County and across Ontario, and approximately 3,000 attendees will be at this year’s event, according to Taylor.
“There’s a lot of local vendors and vendors that come out from across the province,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity for those that live here and cottagers that come up to see what businesses have to offer for their boats, homes, cottages and trailers.”
He said on top of vendors and doggy day care, there will be food and refreshments available in the lounge for people to enjoy.
One of the challenges that goes along with the show, he said, is compiling vendors and making sure the vendor turnout is good.
His favourite part of coordinating the show, is getting to meet different business owners and vendors that come out to display their products, and working with the curling club volunteers that make the event run.
The event has displays for a large variety of interests such as real estate, construction, rentals, furniture, home décor, alternative energy, hot tubs, saunas, landscaping and docks and decks.
Show dates and times are May 31 from 4-9 p.m., June 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and June 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the A.J. LaRue Arena & Haliburton Curling Club.
